Visit in the winter when the ski resorts are piled with fluffy, white snow, or come in the summer when the flowers are peaking along the trails. There is always something to do in Virginia!
In the summer, the best Virginia vacation spots are the quiet cabins nestled into the woods and the trails roaming through beautiful state parks. There are also many caverns where you can climb below the ground and see what nature is doing down below.
Some of the best attractions for road trip adventures with the family include Busch Gardens, Creation Kingdom Zoo, and the water park at the Great Wolf Lodge. There are also petting zoos, raceways, and a variety of theme parks scattered throughout the state.

Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia
Looking for an attraction that you and your family will enjoy? Virginias Colonial Williamsburg is a definite must-see! The Colonial Williamsburg is the largest living history museum in the United States! Its a great place to take the family, as there is so much to do!
While taking a tour around the town, you can witness live reenactments happening throughout the day. In fact, one cool thing about Colonial Williamsburg (that Im sure the kids will love) is the costume rentals! You can rent costumes for the day and play dress-up!
And dont forget to do a little 18th century shopping! The Merchants Square is absolutely amazing! Its actually a national landmark, as it was Americas first shopping center. They have shops that do engraving, shops that have live auctions even shops where you can buy stamps, quill pens, and sealing wax!! You can purchase one-of-a-kind handmade items at the same kind of stores where Jefferson and Washington would have been! There is something for everyone and they make great gifts and souvenirs for your family and friends!
When youre ready to eat, you and the family can relax and get comfortable inside historic colonial taverns! Enjoy the delicious food while being entertained by strolling musicians (who doesnt love a good serenading??), live shows, and 18-century fare!
One of the best times, in my opinion, to experience the Colonial Williamsburg is around the holidays. Being there to see all of the lights and decorations is really something you will treasure! I remember when I went there in December with my Grandparents; it is something I will never forget! Seeing the holiday reenactments, hearing the stories about the citys first Christmas tree, and seeing all of the lights around the town are something you truly have to witness in person!
