Tennessee State Taxes

Choosing Tennessee as an RV Domicile State

Tennessee state taxes should be considered when choosing an RV domicile state. Those RV families on the road who are full timers should also think about other issues, such as Tennessee homeschooling regulations, as well as Tennessee drivers license and Tennessee auto insurance requirements.

The nice thing about having no ties to any state is the ability to choose your RV domicile, or RV home base. You can find a state that offers the best set of options for you and your family, depending on your individual needs. Of course, not every full time RV family has the ability or option of choosing their domicile. See the following page to determine if your domicile has been chosen for you:

  • Tennessee Homeschooling Information

Every state in the United States has different homeschooling laws and regulations. Some states are very difficult to homeschool in, some states are very easy, while most states fall somewhere in the middle. As homeschooling laws go, Tennessee homeschooling has many options.

For Tennessee homeschooling, parents must submit an annual notice of intent with a summary of subjects taught. Children must be schooled 4 hours per day, 180 days per year, and attendance records are collected. Standardized testing is required in grades 5, 7 and 9. Parents who teach their high school students, grades 9-12, must hold a baccalaureate degree or higher. For those Tennessee homeschooling families who choose one of Tennessee's other options, such as schooling under a church-school or umbrella school, some of the requirements are waived.
