Story Land Park North Conway New Hampshire

As a child growing up in NH, I impatiently waited for summer vacation. Not for the usual reasons of not having homework or being able to go to the beach. What I was really waiting for was Memorial Day weekend to roll around and I would know that Story Land in Glen, NH was open for the season!

I have so many fond memories of walking through the story themed area, which included real animals displayed with their story behind it, and feeling like a princess as I walked through Cinderella's castle. I had the joy this year of bringing my three year old son to Story Land, and it was amazing to relive those moments and see the park through his eyes. He enjoyed the animals, but the rides most of all.

This is an area that has changed significantly from my childhood. Story Land now has added top-notch roller coasters, water rides and other rides. We particularly enjoyed the Bamboo Shute (log flume) and went on the Polar Coaster so many times I lost count. I had no idea that my son would be such a thrill seeker.

Tickets aren't cheap, but one of the wonderful things about Story Land is that they allow you to bring in your own food and provide plenty of both covered and uncovered tables to picnic at. This was a huge help to us as we went early in the morning and spent the entire day there, and though we did purchase snacks (how can you pass up fried dough and ice cream?) we were able to bring both lunch and dinner in with us.

They also have lockers where you can store your coolers, diaper bags etc. for under $1, free parking and free strollers and pet kennels if you need them. You can make it through the whole park and ride every ride in one day (we went on a Saturday in August) and the lines were short enough to keep our son occupied. You know how hard it is to ask a three year old to wait patiently, so that's saying a lot!

One extra perk that I didn't know about, that we would have taken advantage of is that if you arrive after 3 PM, you can come back on any day at any time during that same season for free! Keep that in mind if you'll be in the area for a few days or plan to be in the area later in the season.

All in all, I really recommend you spend the day at Story Land if you find yourself in the North Conway area of New Hampshire. This is a wonderful park and I can't wait to take our son back!
