There are many family-friendly places to visit in Michigan no matter what season of the year you want to travel. You can expect some bitter cold and possible piles of snow if you visit in the winter, but you can still get outdoors for skiing, snowmobiling, or even riding the hand painted horses on the Silver Beach Carousel.

Or, just get up in the air on a seaplane and get the true birds-eye perspective!

There are also quite a few educational and historical places to visit in Michigan.

You can tour museums from one end of the state to the other and hit up Dutch Village along the way to explore a different type of theme park.

Nottawa Fruit Farm in Centerville, Michigan

In the heart of Southwest Michigan Amish Country is a little known town called Centerville, Michigan where you can visit Nottawa Farms. About 15 minutes from Three Rivers, and 30 minutes from Kalamazoo it is a great place to visit for a family trip.

They have a free petting "farm", with goats, deer, and a pony.

They have a working beehive display where you can watch and learn just how honey is made (and even buy some from the farm stand).

They have a great bakery, featuring Amish pies and the world's best cinnamon rolls. They also offer homemade fudge.

Depending on the season there is plenty to enjoy, including u-pick strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. I love to visit any time I'm in the area and always make sure to get a freshly made peach pie.

During the summer they have picnic lunches you can order for $10 for a family of four. In the fall they offer a u-pick pumpkin patch and hayrides. The also offer special accommodations for large groups, i.e. school tours or company picnics.

For local residents they have a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, with weekly rations of the best local produce you will find at bargain prices by paying the fee up front. The employees are caring and very helpful with whatever your need may be, and they will accommodate your family with old-fashioned service that is difficult to find these days.
