Ochopee Post Office

Tiny Ochopee Post Office
Nestled in a corner of Big Cypress National Preserve is the smallest post office in the United States, Ochopee Post Office. When we first drove by it, I didn't realize it was a post office! I saw the American Flag, and briefly got a glimpse of the Post Office sign, so of course we had to turn around and take another look. Believe it or not, this tiny little post office, which was once an irrigation shed for a tomato farm, is a real working post office! And ironically, I had a package that I needed to send. So off I went to ship my package. I'm sure the receiver never realized their eBay item had been shipped from the smallest post office in the United States. There was a woman inside, and I cannot even believe she fit in there! The post office was tiny. There was a door, a window for customers, a small room fan, and a chair. There was just enough room around the chair for the postal worker to stand, but there was not enough room for someone else to be in there with her. Apparently, people come from all over the country (and world) to visit this teeny tiny post office in Ochopee. If you're in the area, mail a postcard! It truly is a sight!
