Whether you're breezing through on your way to another location or stopping in for an extended stay, there are many North Carolina places to visit. In the fall you have to slip through the mountains to see the leaves on the trees changing colors. There are many places to stop the RV and camp out for awhile. You can also spend some time at one of the Indian towns and casinos to test your luck and purchase authentic souvenirs.

If you venture out to the coast you can visit the Outer Banks and many smaller beaches. Let the kids bury themselves in the silky sand while the adults stretch their legs and pop up an umbrella for shelter from the sun. During the colder months, you can enjoy indoor water parks with a variety of games and amusements.

North Carolina places to visit also include a variety of theme parks and state parks. You can take the little ones on a mining adventure and railroad tour at Tweetsie's Railroad then head out to a state park to hike the trails and enjoy a bit of free entertainment. You can even head out on the park trails on horseback.

Chimney Rock State Park, North Carolina

My family's favorite place to visit in North Carolina is Chimney Rock State Park. Chimney Rock is a beautiful rock formation that has an elevator running up through the middle of it. You can take the elevator to the top for a gorgeous view of the mountains and valley below. The view is breath taking

There are also many hiking trails within the park. One goes up to a beautiful waterfall. While we were driving the last time, we came upon another waterfall that we had never seen before with a small pool below. There were many people swimming in the pool below, so the kids all got out and went and swam in the pool beneath the waterfall. They thought that was really cool.

The entire area is very beautiful. The last time that we were there though, my son, myself and my mother along with many other people did get stuck in the elevator. The elevator stopped between emergency exits and we had to wait for them to fix the elevator. The bad thing was that my 2 nephews hiked up to a place where we were taking the elevator to meet them. By the time we got out of the elevator, they had already hiked up, gotten tired of waiting for us to show up and hiked back. All in all it wasn't too bad. Everyone on the crammed elevator remained calm, cool and collected.
