Montana homeschooling is legal, and requires that parents send in a letter of intent. Children must be schooled comparably to their public school counterparts, but no specific subjects are required. Annually, attendance hours (and records) are required: 720 hours per year for 1st-3rd grade and, 1,080 hours per year for 4th -12th grade. No testing is required. Parents must also maintain immunization records and make sure that their child is taught in a "building that complies with local health and safety regulations for homes".
