St. Lewis Zoo

My all-time favorite family friendly place to visit in Missouri is the St. Louis Zoo. Their web site is located here: http://www.stlzoo.org/

missouri-tourist-info-02; st lewis zoo The first thing I love about it is that admission is free.

On a weekday, you can get street parking a few blocks away.

You can even bring your own lunch.

If you're willing to bypass the expensive food and parking, it's an incredible way to spend the day without spending anything at all!

My family used to take me there all the time when I was a kid because it was an inexpensive way to keep me entertained, no matter how many times I'd been there before. Even with free admission aside, this is one of the best zoos I've ever visited.

The exhibits are great, but the park isn't huge. Families can spend an entire day looking at animals, but they won't have to walk too far to do it. If the weather isn't great, it has lots of indoor facilities like the reptile and primate houses.

The penguin exhibit is a must, especially on a hot summer day. The zoo also has most of the other animals you'd expect to see at a major zoo. The work they do for conservation and breeding of endangered species is also admirable.

There are almost always some cute baby animals to visit. I recently learned that they have a new baby rhinoceros, which is the first one born there in decades. All-in-all, I'd rate this as one of the best ways to spend an afternoon with your family in Missouri.
