Bennett Spring State Park
This is the best state park in Missouri if you are up for an afternoon or weekend of fishing. The fishing stream is replenished with rainbow trout and other fish on a nightly basis, so there is always something to sink your hook into. You can also enjoy the walking trails and slip into the lodge for a home cooked meal.

Big Sugar Creek State Park
If you like looking at trees, bushes, and other natural plants, you cannot miss a hike through Big Sugar State Park. Many of the plants growing in this area are no longer found in other areas of the state, so you can find some true gems if you know what to look for in any season. Even if you do not know much about the native plants of Missouri, this is a quiet, peaceful place to get away from the crowds and enjoy a walk and picnic with the family.

Elephant Rocks State Park
Come see the massive red granite rocks that still display carvings left behind from miners in the 19th century. The park features a trail that wraps through these amazing rocks, providing a natural playground for children and endless photo opportunities for parents. If you are a history buff, you will be interested in seeing the names of those miners from the past that remain etched into the oversized rocks. You may not see an actual elephant while walking this park, but you will have the feeling of standing next to one with the size of these rocks.

This state park is located near Whiteman Air Force Base, so you can often see the B-2 Spirit bombers taking off into the air and coming in for a landing. When you are ready to venture away from the campgrounds to explore the natural terrain of Missouri, you can wander through trails going through deep forests, open woodland areas, and the peaceful prairie. Head out on foot, grab a bike, or head out for a horse ride through the trees. This is one of the most peaceful Missouri state parks, even if it does oversee those amazing bombers.
