Mall of America, Minnesota

We have always loved a visit to the Mall of America in Bloomington MN. Just minutes from the airport, this attraction is close for air travelers to stop by, even if not staying in the area. This place is HUGE!

Nearly every need can be met by the retailers at the mall. High end customers will be pleased to shop Nordstrom's and Macy's, while Sears and J.C. Penny's can accommodate the more budget driven customer. A veritable plethora of small retailers make this an all day shopping experience.

A particular favorite is store that has almost only toy farm equipment. The other attractions include an indoor theme park, with adult sized and childrens thrill rides. All day passes are available for the rides, or just per ride tickets are also available. This place is like a trip to the fair!

You can complete your day at the mall at one of the many restaurants in the mall. Snack bars to high cuisine are the fare at the mall. There is truly something for everyone. I have yet to go home hungry!

Campgrounds are plentiful in the area, including a very large water park, just across the street from the mall.

Just across the parking lot is the Twin Cities IKEA super store. That is another attraction that must be taken in. Although not a whole day event, it makes for a wonderful companion to a day at the Mall of America.

Minnesota can be a tough place to visit in the winter, but the Mall of America makes it one of my favorite northern destinations.

Best Family Attraction in Minnesota
by: Anonymous

I think the Mall of America is the best family-friendly attraction in Minnesota. We used to go here quite a bit when I was younger and I remember on one special occasion my parents bought me a stuffed dog at one of the toy stores. I have been there several times since with my family and friends.

There is always so much to do and see and there’s something for everyone. When I take my niece and nephew they like to ride the rollercoaster. There is also a great play area there for my son to play in, which he loves because he thinks shopping is boring. My sister and I like to shop at the women’s clothing stores and we always get ice-cream together at Cold Stone Creamery. My boyfriend and I often eat at Rainforest Café and then make a funny music video in the booth they have there.

There’s a lot to do at the Mall of America as a family. We like to visit the underwater aquarium and sometimes go to a movie at the theatre. We’ve been to the aquarium several times during our visits to the mall and we are always amazed to see the spectacular sea-life!

It’s something you wouldn’t want to miss when you go there because it is very unique and not many places have it, especially in a mall. If your family is interested in live comedy they also have The House of Comedy there were you can sometimes see someone really famous performing their stand-up comedy act.

The Mall of America is one stop every family should make while visiting Minnesota.

Worth the Trip!

The Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota is a must see attraction. I went to visit my grandpa when my grandma passed away and I took my 14 year old son with. Since the trip was not a "fun" trip for him, he came along for the ride, I decided to take him to the Mall of America. Neither one of us had been there before so I thought it would be a nice, cheap side trip.

I had never seen anything like it before, in Milwaukee, where I live, the "big" mall was the Grand Avenue Mall and I thought that was amazing. The Mall of America had it beat! In the center of the mall is an indoor amusement park complete with a Ferris wheel, roller coaster and even a water ride. On one end of the mall is a movie theater with 14 screens.

Walking through the mall I spotted "Lego Land" and once again I was in total awe. Outside the Lego store were all these figures made of legos. Airplanes, cars, and people and everything was made out of Lego's. And the food at the mall was unbelievable, a little over priced, but so much of it. This truly was a mall with everything.

Not only does the Mall features all this cool stuff for families and during the day, but the mall has a nightlife as well. Some of the restaurants are open at night, there is a comedy club, and dancing, yes I said dancing. Some of the restaurants offer dancing lessons and live bands.

I just can't think of a better place to visit in Minneapolis than the Mall of America. So much to do and all right there. I was so amazed at the mall that when I went back a year and a half later for my grandpa's funeral and my whole family came, I just had to take them there. My youngest son got to ride on the water ride and we saw Santa at his little North Pole Village.

The Mall of America has an very informative website (http://www.mallofamerica.com/home/) where all the attractions and prices are listed. I just mentioned a small portion of what there is do there. It is certainly worth the trip to see the Mall of America!

Entertain Yourself at Mall of America

Visiting Minnesota and not to sure what to do while you are there besides eating cheese? Are you looking for a place to be entertained for the next day or two?

My family and I were researched different things to do in Minnesota. We thought about catching a football game but the only person that wanted to go was my husband. So, we decided to head over to the Mall of America, the biggest mall in the United States.

Big does not even begin to describe this city that they call a "mall." The center of the mall is a huge amusement park. You will not believe your eyes!

There is a roller coaster named "The Orange Streak" which will leave you crying and laughing all at the same time. Our next stop was, "Crazy Cars" because who doesn't want to ram into total strangers for the heck of it. No better way to let out aggression than with bumper cars.

There are over five hundred different stores to shop in. From high end department stores like Nordstrom's to a specialty store like Zumiez there is a store for everyone in your family. I personally fell in love at Glitz which was every girls dream come true. I spent hours in that store trying on dresses, tiaras, shoes and costume jewelry. It was as if I was eighteen again and getting ready for prom!

My husband must have spent over an hour in Old Vine and Wine because they were giving free samples during their wine tasting event. Let's just say all the wine allowed my husband to mellow out and accept the fact that I was not going to be leaving the mall until it closed.

The food court has your standard run of the mill food selection. So, for a late lunch or early dinner we ate at Rain Forest Cafe. The food was good especially the ribs but, the hourly tropical storm was a bit too loud. The elephants and apes going wild was a bit annoying.

However, I do recommend the Key Wester which is a strawberry and banana yogurt smoothie and is perfect for a light dessert. With four stories of shopping I recommend comfortable shoes and at least two to three days to truly enjoy this mall.

My husband and I look forward to going back because I did not have a chance to visit the Underwater Adventure or catch a movie in their amazing state-of-the-art theater. See you soon MOA!
