Iowa's Cedar Falls Historical Buildings
I have lived in Iowa all my life and as a child and one day in Elementary School our class took a trip to the following places “Little Red School House, “Victorian House”, and “Ice House Museum”. These places were so much fun to visit.
Let me start off by talking about the “Little Red School House”, this attraction was very interesting because we actually got to see what the schools looked like back when our ancestors first arrived in Iowa. Our tour guide would spend about half an hour teaching us about methods teachers back then used on the students. Like hand signals to go to the bathroom and we actually got to sit on the old desks that were there!
Our next stop was the “Ice House Museum” and it wasn't too far from the school. This place once held ice to the top of this house (so our tour guide said) but now it is filled with items back from the old days, like: ice boxes, tools used for cutting, harvesting, and so much more.
I can remember seeing this giant wheel used to harvest crops on the wall. In this house, they had a couple of hunks of ice in the building to demonstrate what was once held in this building.
Our last stop “The Victorian House” was my favorite spot. This place looks as you think it should back in the Victorian age. The furniture was truly an exquisite piece of history as we got to see what these locals used at around 1880 and we were able to go into the basement and there was this huge train set running in the basement.
