Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park, Mackinaw City Michigan
Michigan is surrounded by water and wonderful beaches. But one really fun thing to do is visit Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park, located very near Mackinaw City and Lake Huron.
Mill Creek has lots of fun family activities including a reconstructed sawmill with sawmill demonstration and nature trails with interactive exhibits. Even better though is the zip line. It includes a short hike from the forest floor up to the forest canopy bridge and then, a jump from the eagle's perch to zip over the water to safety!
Once down with the zip line, check out the climbing wall. As you climb, read about birds, plants, and animals of Michigan on the side of the wall.
Located south just a few miles outside of Mackinaw City, right along the Lake Huron shoreline, a trip to Historic Mill Creek can also include a shopping trip into the city and a visit to the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse The lighthouse stands guard at the Straights of Mackinac, where Lakes Michigan and Huron come together and where the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula are separated by the water.
A trip to this area is not complete without a stop at Fort Michilimackinac, under American, British, and French control at various times in the young history of Michigan. The fort is in full view of the Mackinac bridge, which stretches 5 miles between the Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula. Learn about the early lives of settlers in Michigan as well as the Native Americans.
This whole area is a really family friendly part of Michigan and absolutely full of fun things to do. http://www.mackinacparks.com/historic-mill-creek-discovery-park/
