Heritage Acres RV Park near Tuscumbia, Alabama
While the destination is important, we usually go a bit out of the intended way and check out a few sights and stop by Tuscaloosa to see Bryant-Denny Stadium. But this last time, just as we crossed over into Alabama, we tried something new and stopped by the Heritage Acres RV Park, which is near Tuscumbia and not too far from the northern state border. From where we live in Colinwood, TN, it wasn't that long of a drive and we didn't need to take too many backroads. The park itself is pretty simple and doesn't even have many extra features like a dance club or a jungle gym, but it does enough things like a place to do laundry and somewhere to wash yourself. Some more trees would've been cool (most of the parking space is made out of rocks), but the kids enjoyed the break from car-riding and had a good time playing around in a grassy area. The workers at the place had a lot of pamphlets and stuff to tell us about everything in the area. One of the best thing they told us about is this Alabama state Music Hall of Fame and some other museums, but our kids didn't like them too much. There were more attractions they had at the information place at the park though. We've been to some other places in the state, like Deerlick Creek (that one's close to Tuscaloosa) and Talladega Taz Park by Lincoln which is another place to rest the ol' vehicle and is actually a better option I think. But my wife and I did not have any problems with the place at all and neither did our "bus". We have a really nice 2005 Coachmen Leprechaun, which isn't too big but we've always had a good time in it. And a good enough time we while parked at Heritage Acres. For anyone going down from upper Alabama, I can say it's going to be good spot.
