Gatorland, Orlando Florida
by Cathy Martin
I don’t regret the trip at all. We got into the park a bit late but still had plenty time to visit. The first thing we say was a whole bunch and I mean bunch of alligators in one area. A lot of them were younger and smaller but it was amazing to see so many of them in one place. What was amazing was how still they can be when they’re not moving. The layout of Gatorland is easy to follow because it’s like walking down a long corridor and then in various places there are attractions. So, next we saw a man wresting with an alligator. You know, you see this on TV but it’s fun to see it in person. Those alligators have lots of teeth and strong jaws. This trainer actually sat on the back of the alligator. Besides alligators there’s also a little petting zoo with goats. And besides that there are parrots as well. One of the best attractions, however, is when they feed the alligators and involved the audience. There are two trainers, each trainer takes a side of the audience. Then there is a competition to see which alligator will eat the piece of raw chicken hanging on a rod and the audience participates by making noise. That was a ball. Gatorland is a memorable place and it’s more affordable than the Disney theme parks. It’s a great place for the whole family. http://www.gatorland.com
