College World Series Omaha Nebraska
My favorite attraction in Nebraska is the College World Series held in Omaha Nebraska. It’s held every spring by the NCAA for Men’s Division I baseball. It’s an absolutely amazing place to visit if you are a baseball fan. The first thing I noticed was just how big the stadium was. I had to walk a little ways from where I parked to the stadium and in the flat land of Nebraska the stadium towers over everything around it and as I got closer and closer to it the more it seemed like it was larger than anything else I had ever seen. The next thing that made going to the College World Series great was the atmosphere inside the stadium. I got to see multiple games, which meant multiple teams and fans and to see so many fans cheering on their teams and to think of how long it took them to get from their state to Nebraska kind of made me see just how much devotion some of these fans have for their team and that they are willing to do anything to be with their teams. The fans I came across and talked to were great and had some great stories they shared and some had been going there for decades. The food there was also just as good as any place I’ve been to, it’s the classic iconic baseball foods you hear about and have as a kid. The taste of a hot dog with all the fixings and a nice cold pop; it kind of always transports me back to being a kid and going and watching baseball games with my dad. Finally, it’s just the experience that you can’t find anywhere else in the country. Seeing 8 teams play for a National Championship and knowing that only one will walk out of there a winner and 7 teams will have their dreams come so close to reality only to be snatched away in defeat, it’s thrilling and exciting to watch and to take in. There’s something to be said about watching a bunch of amateurs playing a sport for the sake of playing it and not for the money. Everything about the College World Series is unique and something that to experience in person is special and definitely worth going to.
