Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan
Traverse City Michigan turns into a place I hardly recognize during fourth of July week. The Cherry Festival is in full bloom and the smell of chocolate covered cherries, cherry pies, and cherry jams fill the air.
The midway's music is blaring and the children are dashing from ride to ride. Begging if they can ride just one more before it is time to go, and lets not forget the games they want to play all the games.
I have lived in Traverse City for most of my life and have learned to avoid the Cherry Festival all together, but I always make sure and see the blue angels fly. No matter how congested it gets in town, the blue angels are a must see.
Going down to the bay early in the morning to assure a spot to watch those planes zoom by with the loudest roar you could imagine. My children could not stop watching in fear they would miss something good. The planes come within inches of each other, with each pass you just know they are going to go up in smoke. When they dont you continue to look on with amazement.
The blue angels are airforce jet pilots trained to menuvor through the sky like dancers across the stage. It is truely amazing site to see.
The air show usually includes other performer as well. There are typically one or two performers in one seater airplanes, you know for sure they are going to fall out, but some how never do.
The Cherry Festival offers many other events through the week and Traverse City offers so many sites to see. http://visit.cherryfestival.org/air-show
