Campground St. Regis, St. Regis, Montana

by Robert Novak
(Post Falls, Idaho)

I must say this campground had the worst management I have ever experienced in my many years of RVing. I booked a 7 day stay for a family campout in 3 sites. Upon my arrival I asked the lady who check us in if she might know of a place I could purchase some firewood, she show me the small bundles of wood they had for sale at $6 each, I said no, I was going to be there a week and wanted to purchase about 1/2 cord. She told me to talk with her husband. When I talked with him he said that they sold firewood that I didn't need to purchase if from someone else, again I explained that I was going to be there for 7 days and wanted 1/2 cord. He raise a big fuss, saying I would make a big mess and I would not burn all the wood. I told him I would make sure when I left that everything was cleaned up and I would take what I didn't burn home, begrudgingly he walked away. I then proceeded to set up camp and tied 2 small cords to a couple of trees to stabilize my free-standing awning. He came back and told me that my cords (parashoot cords) would kill his trees and insisted that I remove them, and I did. The wood came the next day, after it was delivered, again the owner came over and raised a big fuss and told me not to sell it to anyone in the campground. I assured him I would not sell any to anyone and again assured him that I would make sure everything was cleaned up and I did when I left.

One other major thing was that prior to our arrival, someone had a sewage spill in our site. He never did come and clean that up. Mind you that we had many children in the family from 2 to 12 and we had to make sure they didn't get into the spill.

While there I watched to see if any of the campground employees ever came to inspect the campsites when someone left and no one ever inspected them to make sure they were clean and ready for the next occupant.

They also closed the restroom from 11 AM to 2 PM during the day. I thought this was really strange. I made it very inconvenient.

There playground facilities for the children was minimal, swing set and what you might call monkey bars.

I will never stay in this campground again and would recommend that you would also pass this one bye!
