Camp Sacajawea in Farmingdale, NJ
For families who are new to camping, bathrooms are clean and plentiful, and there is running water throughout the campsite. You may camp in a variety of spots, some more primitive than others, and there are platforms and yurts. You may, if you contact the Girl Scout administration in advance, use the boats on the lake, learn archery or horseback riding, and even try out the ziplines. There are tennis courts. There are established fire rings for those who want to enjoy singing around the campfire or toasting marshmallows. All in all, if little girls enjoy this kind of sanitized camping, its probably great for most families. There are wood ticks, though not as many deer ticks even during the season, because the council sprays for the protection of its scouts. If you feel the need to get a pizza, if you're tired of regular camp fare, there is a pizza shop in town who can deliver in about twenty minutes. Groups are encouraged to use the camp facilities, and it is optimum for family reunions company or religious retreats, and barbecues. In addition, there is a significant discount for families of Girl Scouts. Camp Sacajawea is in Monmouth County, NJ, and is best reached by car. There are no buses or trains nearby.
