Blast Off with the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabamaby Thomas Gimmel
They have a space camp there during the summer that is for children ages 9-11. You can do many interesting things while you are there. One of the things that I found to be the most interesting and enjoyable is the simulated activities. You can actually experience some of the training equipment that the astronauts use. One of these simulations can provide you with the experience of weightlessness. You can also take a tumble on the Multi-Axis Trainer. They also have the museum exhibits that you can visit just on a day visit with the family. I remember being able to view the inside of a rocket and see the compartments where the astronauts ate, slept, and lived while in space. They also have the space food that you can purchase and try. You can go inside the simulated Apollo cockpit. They also now include the 3D IMAX theatre which is really awesome. They have the rockets set up outside for you to see when you arrive at the center. They also have some of the original astronaut outfits set up for you to view. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is a really interesting and educational place to go and enjoy time with your family. There are activities for all ages of the family. I have been to the Space and Rocket Center on two different occasions and both times I really enjoyed the experience. It's worth a stop and look around. Go to: www.spacecamp.com to view any additional information you might want.
