Black Canyon Campground, Santa Fe New Mexico
My friends and I were traveling across the country stopping at national parks along the way. Heading up from Albuquerque we came to the forested area and quickly felt the temperature going down along the shaded road. Coming into Santa Fe we found a beautiful old town with art and culture. We stopped in the town before making our way to the campsite, which is only 8 minutes from downtown. We ate a delicious dinner in the roof terrace of a lovely downtown hotel and then went down to the town center to enjoy free music that was being played. We took our time wandering the streets and window shopping. As it was getting darker we decided to make our way to the campground. We met several other couples and families that were having campfires and traded stories of our travels. After getting fully set up we decided it was time to get a nice fire going and cook some snacks. The cool air was wonderful after our time traveling in the SouthWest. The stars were so beautiful and we fixed Shmores and sat around telling stories. We stayed up late enjoying the fire and fun conversation. Later we fell asleep and awoke to another beautiful day. In the morning we cooked bacon, eggs, and potatoes and spent several hours reading about all the fun things that we could do around town. We were amazed by the number of activities that a small city like Santa Fe had to offer. We went back into town and saw some amazing architecture and more delicious food before leaving town that afternoon to head into Colorado. The campsite was great, very clean, easy to pay, good people, quiet, and there is an attendant if you need anything at all. The price was very reasonable and I would suggest it to anyone who ends up in that part of the country.
