Anchors Aweigh RV Park in Foley, Alabama
My family and I love to visit Anchors Aweigh RV Park in Foley, Alabama. This is one of our favorite places to camp. The location is perfect for us. It is just minutes away from the beach, but in a more relaxed atmosphere with tons of shopping, restaurants and movie theaters. This resort is family owned and we feel like a part of a small family there. The owners are very friendly and the entire camp is very family friendly. We are very comfortable and at ease there. They have activities for campers, such as smores roasts and karaoke nights, as well as crafts for children and bingo. During the week, they have a Vacation Bible School type program for young children (during the summer). We have a small pop-up camper, so we are not equipped with some of the more luxurious amenities like other campers. The location is a definite plus for us. We also have small children who love the beach, but would prefer a pool over the beach any day. Their pool is great for youngsters. The pool begins just like a beach and slopes in slowly, with a little water spout, to where small children and toddlers can walk in for several feet. It is only about ankle deep. They have to walk a good ways into the pool before any depth occurs. This is fabulous for children. The pool gets up to about five feet deep, so the older children can enjoy this as well. They also have a great playground adjacent to the pool. They have a structure shaped like a ship where kids can climb and play and swing. Our kids love it! The bathrooms are private and very comfortable and clean. Our very first camping trip ever with our pop-up camper was there and we were initiated quite well. Our very first night camping, a storm came through with 70 mph winds. Our camper shook like crazy and our door blew in. We gathered our kids and ran to the car. Fortunately it passed by shortly after that. The large RV next to us had its awning ripped from it and it blew our awning down. When the weather settled, we had many people come to check on us. Folks were watching us from their windows to make sure we were okay. The owner came to check on us as well. This made for a memorable experience for our first time camping and is funny now. Needless to say, we made quite an impression on them and they remember us quite well. We love this place. You can find them at: http://www.anchorsaweighrv.com.
